Appreciating all that makes America special

You don’t have to be a nonconformist or a geek to like Trader Joe’s. But it probably helps.

If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s in your town, it’s a good bet you desperately want one. Although you may not do your weekly grocery shopping there, you’d make a special trip to buy things you can find (almost) nowhere else. Like Trader Joe’s Popcorn in a Pickle. Or bacon jam. Or turkey stuffing kettle chips.

And it may surprise you that one of the items most identified with the store – Two Buck Chuck wine – has only been available since 2002.

Trader Joe’s is celebrating its 50th year in 2017, growing from an initial store in Pasadena to more than 450 stores nationwide. If there isn’t a store near you, it’s time to get your town advocating for one. Or you could just move.
