What’s the first thing that crosses your mind when you think of Cape Cod? Maybe you dream of beaches, since the Cape has some 60 of them, including the 40-mile-long Cape Cod National Seashore. Or maybe it’s sharks – Jaws was filmed on the island of Martha’s Vineyard just off the Cape. Or maybe it’s presidents, since the Kennedy clan lives in Hyannis, and the Obamas take one of their many vacations also on Martha’s Vineyard. They must not be afraid of sharks.

The Cape has numerous full-time residents, though its population swells during the summer months. In fact, it’s probably the most prominent retirement location in New England. Though that’s kind of like wondering what’s the best Ethiopian restaurant in Mississippi.
Oh, and if you enjoy having a groundhog predict how long winter will last, you’ll definitely want to be in Onset, MA on the first day of Summer to hear Doug the Quahog predict how many days of beach weather the season will hold. Cape Cod provides its visitors sunshine, beaches, shopping, dining, and outdoor activities. But let us never forget Doug, the talking clam.
